Cindy A. Wirth

CIndy Wirth has been a lifelong resident of Gilbert.  She grew up on a farm south of Gilbert, where her family raised cattle, hogs, and chickens along with row crop farming.  In addition to farming the family purchased Mr. Nicks in 1978, which is now known as The Open Flame Steak House.  Currently, Cindy's brother, Randy owns and operates the restaurant.  Cindy graduated from Gilbert High School and the University of Colorado Graduate School.  Cindy is Vice President of Commercial Lending at First National Bank, Ames where she has been employed for 29 years.  Cindy's husband Greg, is a Gilbert High School graduate; they have four children: Ryan, Nicole, Shelby, Taylor, and four grandchildren. 
 
Cindy has been a member of the Gilbert Education Foundation since 2008.  She is a Board Member for the Gilbert/Franklin Fire Agency and an active volunteer for United Way of Story County.  Other community volunteer activities include: Day of Caring for United Way of Story County, Teach Children to Save, Gilbert PTO, Gilbert Business Horizons, Gilbert Lutheran Church, Ames Chamber, Little Red Wagon Reading Program, Special Olympics, and Iowa Games.  Cindy has served as past board member for Soroptimist International, Story County Volunteer Center, and Gilbert Lutheran Church. Cindy is also a 2009 graduate of Leadership Ames. Cindy was Past President for the Gilbert Quasquicentennial Celebration in 2004.  This event was celebrated July 30-31, 2004 with two full days of events and activities to celebrate 125 years for the City of Gilbert (1879-2004).
 
Cindy anf Greg enjoy spending time with their children, grandchildren, and attending all Gilbert School activities and ISU sports.  They are proud to be lifelong residents of Gilbert and to see the growth and continued support for the community.
